About

WHAT IS AN MVP?

An MVP – or prototype – is the first functional simulation of your idea: a live, interactive model where your core features and design come to life. Think of it as a test drive for your product, allowing users to navigate, explore, and provide actionable feedback. It’s a streamlined way to validate your concept, debug early assumptions, and refine the user experience before diving into full-scale development.

MVPs are for testing and refining ideas, not for delivering the final product.

WHAT TO EXPECT?

  • Interactive Core Features – Users can navigate the basic functionality of your product.

  • Clear Concept Demonstration – Show off your idea in action.

  • Simplified User Flow – Experience how users will interact with your product.

  • Basic Visuals – Clean designs, often with placeholders or wireframes.

  • Early Feedback Opportunities – Test your idea with real users.

  • Low-Fidelity Testing – Functional but simple mockups for proof of concept.

WHAT NOT TO EXPECT?

  • Fully functional or polished features – Only core functions will be available.

  • Optimized performance or bug-free experience – Focus is on functionality over perfection.

  • Advanced scalability or full security – Basic security measures only.

  • Finalized design or complete user flow – Streamlined version of the final experience.

  • Production-ready infrastructure – Simple backend setup for testing.

THE 6-WEEK JOURNEY

1

Discovery Workshop (2 Days)

A fast-paced and collaborative workshop inspired by the Design Sprint methodology, tailored to fit a two-day timeframe. The goal is to align the project vision, ideate potential solutions, validate concepts, and create a quick-and-dirty prototype (e.g., wireframes) to test critical ideas.

  • Day 1: Ideation and Conceptualization

  • Day 2: Prototyping and Validation

This workshop's output is a validated concept and rough wireframes, ensuring clarity on the direction before further scoping and design work.

2

Scoping Workshop (1 Day)

A focused session will be held to translate the validated concept into actionable technical and project requirements.

  • Refine requirements: Define the scope of features and functionality for the first iteration.

  • Technical & user experience considerations: Discuss feasibility and dependencies with the development & design team.

  • Prioritize deliverables: Identify must-haves versus nice-to-haves for the next phase.

3

First UI Designs (1 Week)

Using the outputs from the Discovery and Scoping workshops, the design team creates the first round of high-fidelity UI designs. These designs include the visual look and feel and initial layouts for key user flows.

4

Design Review & Technical Scoping (2 Days)

Navigating the complex landscape of alcohol-related regulations across different states added another layer of complexity to our development process. We had to ensure our platform remained compliant while still delivering a seamless user experience.

5

Final UI Designs (1 Week)

The design team incorporates feedback from the review to finalize the UI designs, ensuring all components are aligned with the technical requirements and project goals.

6

Development & Testing (4 Weeks)

The development team builds the product, implementing the final designs while conducting iterative testing to ensure quality and alignment with the agreed-upon scope.

  • Agile delivery: Development may proceed in sprints, with regular check-ins for feedback.

  • Testing: QA and usability testing to ensure the product meets user expectations.

7

Go-Live (1 Day)

The product is deployed and launched and then reviewed for smooth functionality and alignment with project goals.

Note: After the discovery phase, we’ll define what can realistically be delivered in the timeline. While it can happen that it won’t be 100% of your vision, we’ll focus on key features to stay on track. Further refinement can occur in the following stages of development.
